How to reach Le Chaudron

At 1818 m between Champéry and Les Crosets. Here is everything you need to arrive with peace of mind, summer and winter alike.

From the main Swiss routes

From Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux or Martigny via the A9:

  1. Exit 18 Saint-Triphon – Les Portes du Soleil
  2. Head for the Collombey tunnel
  3. At Val d’Illiez, at the roundabout, follow Les Crosets
By car · France

From the main French routes

From Thonon-les-Bains, Évian or Annemasse via the D22:

  1. Cross the Pas de Morgins (border)
  2. Forest road towards Champéry
  3. Turn left onto Route des Bains before Val d’Illiez
  4. At the roundabout, follow Les Crosets

Without a car

Take the train to Aigle station, then the TPC line to Val d’Illiez, and the bus up to Les Crosets.

Arrival changes with the season

The road climbs to Les Crosets all year round — but the final stretch up to the refuge feels quite different in summer and in winter.

Drive right to the door

At Les Crosets, after the Free Ride Hotel, turn right and follow the “Chaudron” signs.

  • By car: direct access, parking around the hotel.
  • On foot: a lovely climb from Les Crosets along the trails.
  • By mountain bike: you can ride up via the resort trails.

Skis, snowcat… or snowshoes

The road stops at Les Crosets: leave your car at Chalet Montriond (our hotel) and head up to the refuge with ease.

  • By ski: skis on, straight from the slopes of the resort.
  • By snowcat: shuttle from Chalet Montriond — we take care of your luggage.
  • On snowshoes: an easy, waymarked climb from Les Crosets (~30 min), suitable for everyone — your luggage goes up by snowcat.

Outdoor parking at Chalet Montriond: CHF 10 / day.
